The soccer team lost 3-0 against Sumner Academy on Oct. 23 in the first round of 4A regional soccer. The Braves were optimistic coming into the game, but were outplayed by the 10-2-1 Sabres.

The regional loss has ended the Braves season, and senior captain Kaleb Hightower felt that the team didn’t have a good mindset during the game.

“We weren’t there, and we got really down on ourselves when they scored,” Hightower said.

The loss was an emotional one, being the last game for this year’s seniors.

“We were very devastated, very sad. But then again there was more of an appreciation because I got to play with those boys for so long and build memories,” Hightower said.

While the season is over, the future of Braves soccer is looking bright. Under first year head coach Nathan Friesner, the Braves record of 7-7-2 was much improved from the 4-14 record of last year.

“I thought we did a lot better than we did last year,” Hightower said. “I felt we shaped Bonner soccer to what it needs to be.”
