Athlete of the Week: Rishaud Dockery

Dylan Palmberg and Derrick Kolle

Rishaud Dockery is our newest Athlete of the Issue. The senior guard has been playing great for the Braves’ basketball team, averaging 14.4 points per game this season. Last Friday, Feb. 14, Dockery scored 26 points in the Braves’ recent loss to Ottawa.

Although Dockery is the Braves’ leading scorer, head coach Dan Streit is a fan of the defensive aspect of his game.

“Doc is a great defender. When he decides to shut down an opponent, he does it. Case in point versus Tonganoxie: Riley Beach, Tongie’s best player, was held to only three points. We stuck Doc on him and told him once he passes the ball, he doesn’t get it back,” Streit said.

So what has Dockery done this year to improve his game?

“I am more aggressive and have more confidence in my shot,” Dockery said.

And how does Dockery feel about the season moving forward?

“We have a couple tough matchups coming up, but we’re getting better as a team,” Dockery said.
